The First Bloodgiver tells the journey of Ionis from an arrogant vampire prodigy to a holy warrior on a mission to change the world. She is a rebel at heart, but wrestles with what that means for her and how to fight the darkness in her own soul. T'set the afke dragon changes everything for her, leaving Ionis to decide how she wants to live before her god.

The First Bloodgiver is the first of a series of short stories called The Twelve Tales. These short stories are filled with fables, myths, and legends from the four worlds: the proud Yenyi of the volcanic overlands, the sharing Vet’vus from their submerged civilization, the solid groundlings of the subterranean Alai peoples, and the free-floating skylanders of the Gik’i. Each story uncovers the secret wisdom of one of the great Afke dragons, the guardians of the lands.
