Developing Theme Through Characters

Characters require two things: Want and Need. The relationship between these two things is important for creating a vibrant character with a clear arc. The character’s need is the key to exploring theme in writing. Here’s a quick overview. Want and Need Reviewed Characters have to want something. This propels them to take risks and further the plot.
