Mekkendor is the setting of a future saga I intend to release, starting with the book I’m writing right now: The Bondage of Magics. It’s a world with dozens of moons, and which orbits two suns, one after the other. There’s also a massive, slowly-expanding wall of gas eating everything in its path and slowly destroying the world from the center of the continent. This creates a host of interesting challenges and tools from a worldbuilding perspective.
As far as plot goes, there are three currently in the works:
Book 1: The Bondage of Magics
In much of the “civilized” world, slaves are controlled using memory runes placed on their bodies, which control their memories. The rune of one such slave, called Phoebe, starts to weaken and crack much sooner than it should, and before her master can react, she discovers that she was a mage and uses those abilities to escape. Can she finish removing the unstable rune before it does irreparable damage, and can she avoid the obsessed pursuit of her master?
Book 2: The Terminus of Princes
A noblewoman writes countless stories of every color, earning her the ire of the crown. Exiled, she must use her knowledge of the world’s tales to unite a disparate cluster of city-states, becoming the hero of a story they will follow her through.
Book 3: The Sickness of Priests
The lone survivor of a plague runs to the city in search of a new life, as a priestess who can wield the power of her twin gods against disease. But when she discovers that a priest’s job is to sow disease, and not to cure it, her aim changes to the man responsible for her village’s grim demise: her new teacher.
