Through more than 300 years, life can take one through many twists and turns. That is a fact Astolphos is more than familiar with. Once a dignitary with vast responsibilities to the kingdom of Lumina, now nothing more than a smith peddling his wares in a small village in Aurillia, living each day with the guilt of letting his home crumble to pieces. After centuries, the crown of Aurillia finally wants to redeem their part of the contract Astolphos made. Furthermore, the message arrived with a reminder of why he made the contract in the first place: a girl who was part of the family he sacrificed his country and everything he stood for to keep safe. As much as he wants to flee, he must stay and fulfill his part, lest the last smolders of what he holds dear be extinguished.

Lunarias is a knight with an impeccable track record, with several successful campaigns into the treacherous Abyss, which is why her newest assignment came as a shock. She has to escort an Abyssal, the enemies of Aurillia, to the capital for an audience with the queen. Despite discontent with the situation, she could do nothing but obey, as anything else was treason.
