Every early December in Silver Springs, Vermont, anonymous holiday cards arrive like clockwork: glittering envelopes hiding careful and unkind messages.

And Laura Evans discovers her boss, coworker, and friend among the targets. There’s never a season where that behavior is acceptable, but especially at this time of year.

Together with her friend Jasmine, and landlady Evelyn, they enlist the Maplewood Crafters Club. Between serving peppermint hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies at the café, she traces writing styles, suspicious postal drops, and townspeople with a distaste for the season.
